Bentley
Continental Flying Spur/GT/GTC – iPod Interface
Though not exactly new (we’ve been manufacturing
and installing these for over two years), they
are a newly available official Bentley accessory.
Both Bentley as well as ourselves use base
components supplied by Dension, Europe’s leading
manufacturer of iPod interfaces.
Whereas Bentley supply only one version (similar
in operation to our Bentley Icelink Plus),
we offer two, the Icelink Plus and the Icelink
Lite. The main advantage of our Plus version
(and the Bentley product) is that one can access
the first four Playlists as set
up in iTunes and change tracks using the
Bentley Infotainment controls. However, this
advantage is negated if you don’t generally
make use of Playlists, which is why we also
offer the Lite version.
The
Icelink Lite offers full control via your
iPod at all times. Simply select the CD changer
via your Infotainment controls and a hidden
switch allows you to sway between CD changer
and iPod

Bentley Bluetooth Module
Bentley, like most car manufacturers, produce their own factory installed
Bluetooth kit. However, the main limitation of these OE Bluetooth systems
is compatibility with the latest mobile phones, particularly the so called
“Smartphones”. This is no fault of Bentley or any other manufacturer;
it is simply that with phone technology moving so fast, it is quite simply
impossible to keep up with all the changes made by the big phone companies.
If you own the latest Blackberry, Nokia E90 or Windows Mobile Device
(to name but a few), the chances are it will not function with your factory
Bluetooth interface. Sure, you can “downgrade” to a simpler mainstream
phone that will integrate smoothly, but what if this is unacceptable?
We
have now developed our own simple Bentley Bluetooth interface that will
function with most of the phones on the market. We
can’t offer the full integration (phonebook
synchronisation, incoming number display
etc.), but we can give you the ability to
answer/cancel a call using the Bentley steering
wheel controls, mute the Infotainment system
and play the incoming audio over the car’s
speakers.
We
are currently working on a version for Maserati…

Bentley Infotainment – rear seat control module
One of the complaints we hear most frequently from Bentley Flying
Spur owners who prefer the services of a chauffeur, is that they are
unable to adjust the stereo system whilst sitting in the rear.
We have been working on a module that will allow rear control of specific
functions – volume and track/station. Though the driver will still have
to select the source – tuner, TV or CD changer - the rear seat passenger
will be able to change stations and adjust the volume.
When this module is supplied with one of our rear seat entertainment
systems, the passenger will also be able to view the TV picture on the
rear screens and change channels

Premium Rear Seat Entertainment System(s)
If you’re looking for the very best in rear seat entertainment systems,
look no further. We offer three screen options – 6.5” screens in head
rests, 8” screens in the upper seat back (cars without picnic tables)
and 10.2” screens in the lower seat back (cars with picnic tables).
With a 6 disk DVD changer, digital TV tuner, rear iPod interface, DAB
radio and a full speaker/amplifier these systems sound as good as they
look.
The unique feature is full touch screen control via a centrally mounted
display, so no remote controls to lose! With the standard five seat arrangement,
the control display will be in the rear cup holder tray. With the individual
rear seat arrangement the display will motorise up from the rear centre
console.
Simply select your source – DVD, TV, radio or iPod – and change tracks
etc. on the easy to use touch screen display. We’ll even have video iPod
integration by the end of July. The upgraded sound system is fully controlled
from the rear of the car when required and, when not in use, control
can be passed back to the driver and the Infotainment system.
These systems aren’t cheap, but they offer the ultimate in mobile cinema.

PXE-H650 – System Integration Audio Processor
The PXE-H650 is a versatile and comprehensive way to upgrade your existing
factory system, and get sound quality you never dreamed possible. With
MultEQ processing, the PXE-H650 uses more than 500 points along the frequency
spectrum and precisely optimises the sound to the acoustics of your specific
vehicle. The result is IMPRINT Sound, a solution for virtually any factory
system that lets you truly experience music the way the artist intended,
custom tailored to your vehicle and free from distortion and colouration.
Well,
that’s what Alpine have to say about it!
In simple terms, it allows us to upgrade
factory systems with new amplifiers and speakers
whilst retaining the original head unit.
Up until now, we could always change speakers
and perhaps add a sub-woofer, but this never
really made the substantive improvement we
were seeking.
Although not the first of these new devices (Rockford Fosgate already have one on the market),
the PXE-H650 is the first from the Alpine
stable, bringing with it Alpine’s legendary
reputation for quality and reliability.
