We had already installed the Alpine
8.5” screens in the upper seat back of a Flying Spur. Whilst
working on that project, we decided that we could (with a
bit of effort) make the Alpine 10.2” monitors fit. We also
decided that we would motorise the mechanism for that added
“wow factor”. All we needed now was a customer with a Flying
Spur!
Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait for long and, as with buses, three came along
together! We completed one with manual, push operation, screens
and two with the full motorised option. Though a veneered
surround would have been no problem (see the Bentley Arnage
in the Gallery section), the matching leather surrounds seemed
to work better on the Flying Spur.
All three were connected to DVD changers
(Alpine as usual) and interfaced with the factory digital
TV tuner. This enabled rear seat passengers to view TV on
the rear screens and front seat passengers to view the DVD
picture on the front screen (whilst stationary of course!).
Additionally, we installed our own proprietary volume adjustment
and TV channel selection control panel for rear seat passengers.
This same system specification is
now marketed as our “Premium Bentley Rear Seat Entertainment
System”.
